Enjoy short films in the city centre of Detmold or at home – your choice!

The last few years have inspired us to go one step further with the Detmold International Short Film Festival. This year, the festival will take place from 21st to 26th August in three different locations in the city centre of Detmold. Just like last year, we are offering you an online alternative – the entire event can be followed in real time via livestream as if you were there. We will show films two days in a row at one location and then change. Hopefully we will start with an open air screening at Cafe Cup on Monday and Tuesday (21. & 22.8.). In case of bad weather, the screening will take place at Cafe Cup. On Wednesday and Thursday (23. & 24.8.) we will show our accessible short films at Grabbe Haus. And finally, on Friday and Saturday (25. & 26.8.) we will be back at the Stadthalle Detmold.

In addition to the film programme, the art exhibition invites you to linger. Question and answer sessions with the filmmakers allow for an intensive discussion of the film content. The physical well-being will not be neglected either and we will offer snacks and drinks.

This year, admission is free of charge. For the performances at Cafe Cup on Monday (21.8.) and Tuesday (22.8.) and at the Stadthalle on Friday (25.8.) and Saturday (26.8.) there are enough tickets at the box office. For the performances in the Grabbe Haus on Wednesday and Thursday (23 & 24 Aug.) there are only a limited number of seats. It is worth coming early. Advance entrance begins 30 minutes before each performance.

For those, who are unable to come to the venue, we bring the cinema to you. We invite you to enjoy evenings filled with finely selected short films in the comfort of your own home. You can stay safe together with your loved ones and still take part in our festival, that we have crafted with great care.

All the festival events will be streamed in real-time from Stadthalle of Detmold. Along with the films, there will be exclusive content, like personal greetings from filmmakers, Q&A sessions, a virtual tour of our art exhibition and more. Therefore, you will not miss out on anything happening on the festival site. Streaming the event is free.

All you have to do is to visit out website on the days of the festival. There you will have the possibility to stream the films, as well as enjoy our 360° virtual reality tour through the venue. The chat during the Q&A and directors lounges gives you the opportunity to ask your questions directly to the filmmakers and get in contact with the guests at the venue.
