Enjoy short films in the city centre of Detmold or at home – your choice!

The last few years have inspired us to go one step further with the Detmold International Short Film Festival. That is why we want to keep the concept of three different locations for this year. The festival will take place from 19 to 25 August in the city centre of Detmold. Like last year, we are offering you an online alternative – you can follow the entire event in real time via livestream, as if you were there. We start on Monday (19.8.) and Tuesday (20.8.) in the Kaiserhof+. We are happy to host two days of the ISFF Detmold in this former cinema of Detmold. From Wednesday (21.8.) to Friday (23.8.) we welcome you to our open-air cinema in front of Café Cup, right in the centre of Detmold. In case of bad weather we will start in the Stadthalle Detmold. On Saturday (24.8.) and Sunday (25.8.) we will finish at the Stadthalle Detmold.

In addition to the film programme, the art exhibition invites you to stay. Question and answer sessions with the filmmakers will provide an opportunity for in-depth discussion of the films. We will also be providing snacks and drinks.

As last year, admission is free. For the screenings in the Kaiserhof+ on Monday (19.8.) and Tuesday (20.8.) there are only a limited number of seats available. It is worth arriving early. The box office opens 30 minutes before each performance.
For the screenings at the Cafe Cup and the Stadthalle Detmold there are enough seats available.

For those, who are unable to come to the venue, we bring the cinema to you. We invite you to enjoy evenings filled with finely selected short films in the comfort of your own home. You can stay safe together with your loved ones and still take part in our festival, that we have crafted with great care.

All the festival events will be streamed in real-time from Stadthalle of Detmold. Along with the films, there will be exclusive content, like personal greetings from filmmakers, Q&A sessions, a virtual tour of our art exhibition and more. Therefore, you will not miss out on anything happening on the festival site. Streaming the event is free.

All you have to do is to visit out website on the days of the festival. There you will have the possibility to stream the films, as well as enjoy our 360° virtual reality tour through the venue. The chat during the Q&A and directors lounges gives you the opportunity to ask your questions directly to the filmmakers and get in contact with the guests at the venue.
