Friedrich Schätzle

Friedrich Schätzle, born in Dresden, discovered filmmaking at the age of 13 through stop-motion. After completing his training as a media designer for image and sound, Friedrich Schätzle worked as an editor and camera assistant at the ARD foreign studio in Istanbul, where he produced documentary films for Arte Re, Weltspiegel and Europamagazin in addition to news reports. During this time, he developed a desire to tell his own stories and reach others with them. Today, Friedrich Schätzle studies film studies at the Free University of Berlin and initiates his own short film projects, writes stories and directs. His first short film, ‘Ist der Platz noch frei?’ (Is the seat still free?), was screened at the Up-and-Coming International Film Festival, among others. His second short film, ‘Kopf oder Bauch’ (Head or Gut), was screened at the Weiterstadt Film Festival in 2025 and is still being evaluated for festivals.
