Barbara De Baare

Barbara de Baare (1979) is a journalist and documentary filmmaker. She is the owner of BKIJKS, a production company specializing in commissioned films with a documentary character. Over the past twenty years Barbara has worked as an editor and reporter for various radio and television programs at different Dutch broadcasters. She became a producer and director of human interest stories, personal portraits and short documentaries. Her Teledoc Campus' film Leven op zijn kop (2024) had its world premiere at Doc Edge Festival in New Zealand and was selected for the Netherlands Film Festival (NFF), CineKid Filmfestival and more all over the world. The documentary Koeienpoep & Erwtensoep (Cow Poop & Pea Soup) won the Audience Award at Go Short (2019) during the Shortest Night Film Festival. And the short doc Honkvast (Homesteaded) won the Audience Award at Twente Short (2022). Her strength lies in her ability to discover the complexity of her characters and manage to find a strong visual form that fits their perception.
