Emil lives with his nicotine-addicted mother in a small apartment. He spends most of his days in front of the television and only leaves the house when his mother sends him to the kiosk to buy new cigarettes. Emil's life changes abruptly when the kiosk owner puts him in charge of a fish. In the fish, Emil not only finds a best friend and confidant, but also increasingly distances himself from his mother, who continuously poses a growing threat to the unusual friendship.

Lisa Stangenberg, Leon Scheuermann
Lisa Stangenberg, born on the Lower Rhine, came to film through her training as a media designer for image/sound. In 2023, she was awarded the Baden-Baden Award for her graduation film "Success", naming her "Germany's best media designer". Today, she works freelance as a camerawoman in Cologne and couldn't be closer to her dreams. Leon Scheuermann comes from Neuss and before he started his training as a media designer for image/sound, he had already gained some experience on film sets and in various departments. After completing his training, he moved to the film metropolis of Berlin, where he now works as a media designer.
