Fred & Pauline

Germany / / 00:08:31 min

At a bus stop in the middle of nowhere, a man in his early 50s and a young 18-year-old woman happen to meet. The two form an unorthodox hiking community to the train station about 30 km away and, through interest and empathy, develop a tender friendship that leads them to a new, more conciliatory mindset about their respective lives. While Pauline inspires Fred to forgive himself for the omissions of the past and to tackle the things he considers irreversibly missed right now, Fred, who recognizes his young alter ego in her, succeeds in leading Pauline from her apathy and cynicism to a positive outlook on life. Just as the two succeed in bringing color back into each other's lives through sincere affection and commitment, and an honest friendship develops, color also returns to the film.
