The Wedding Photo explores the relationship between a couple and a professional camera and on top of that the societal pressure to perform as the perfect couple. Developed and finished in Katharina Ludin’s and Anna Ilin’s seminar Working with Limitation(s) of the University of Arts, Berlin in the Arts & Media faculty. Inspired by her grandparents’ photographs and the pre-wedding industry in Medan, Indonesia, Edlin constructed a tale of two people who came together to be in one picture. A picture that will be on their living room walls for their children to see, and the children of their children to see.

Born in Medan, Indonesia, Edlin is a filmmaker and photographer seeking to tell stories on identity, dreams and interpersonal relationships. Currently residing in Berlin, and studying Arts & Media in the University of Arts Berlin, Edlin embarks on her journey of identity and the everyday attempt of decolonizing her writing, photography and film.
