Owlpark - Disconnected
Germany / Drama, Music, Music video / 00:03:57 min
'What if we could start all over again?' is the overarching question that surrounds the music video for 'Disconnected‘, the latest single from Berlin based alt-pop artist Owlpark. In the midst of self-alienation, Owlpark longs for a utopian second chance in a relationship. 'Let's pretend everything is still alright, maybe then I'm gonna be less frightened', it echoes through the confining room in which the artist has locked up himself. Via a monitor, he observes his former lover, who is, on the hand, unable to escape the relationship, but still refuses to be controlled by his possessive partner. As a conflicting performance dialogue between the two evolves, it becomes increasingly blurred who has the upper hand. Enhanced by a stylized cinematography, 'Disconnected' takes a self-critical look at one’s role in a broken relationship. Exposing its protagonists to sharp spotlights, the video depicts the pain of partnerships that sometimes cost us a lot, but also allow us to mature.
