The Art of Solitude

Germany / / 00:04:45 min

Solitude is often stigmatized as an inconvenience, as something to avoid. Yet the experience of loneliness, the suffering it brings, and the process of overcoming it are part of being human. By observing Skadi on her solo getaway, the short film aims to paint an honest portrait of what it means to be alone and to spark courage in embracing it. With all the difficulties as well as the quiet triumphs it brings, spending time alone can be easier said than done – especially when considering external influences. Judgments or pity from others can make many feel misunderstood and anxious. We believe that staying true to the path, facing solitude and growing from it is very much worth the try. In the end, the cure for loneliness is the art of solitude.
