SANCTUM OPUS

Germany / Thriller, Comedy / 00:05:15 min

The young vicar Benedikt Haderlein prepares the church service as usual - seemingly dutifully, but secretly he helps himself to the bell bag. Suddenly a divine voice appears to him, confronts him with his sins and gives him one last chance for redemption: he is to kill Satan. With a holy book and a supposed knife, Benedict sets out to conjure up evil. But the final battle takes an absurd turn when his “arsenal of weapons” turns out to be surprisingly unsuitable. A blackly humorous story about guilt, temptation and divine madness.

Jannis Jürgens

Jannis Jürgens is a bachelor's student at the OWL University of Applied Sciences and was in his sixth semester at the time of the film production. After gaining initial experience in radio journalism, he shifted his creative focus to the medium of film in order to expand his narrative style from the purely auditory to the visual realm. He began by working on screenplays, but quickly developed a passion for directing - particularly through his work as a production manager, where he learned to appreciate the direct exchange with the team and actors. Through targeted course selection and practical experience, he increasingly took on directing responsibilities in student and independent productions. He is now also regularly asked to work as a director and creative partner on projects outside the university context - a development that confirms and strengthens his artistic direction
