The Blue Stag
El Venado Azul
/ Animation / 00:03:12 min
Deep within the vast region of Central West Mexico, a young Wixárika boy hesitates to kill a noble stag, as he aims his bow at it. Upon noticing the stag is accompanied by its fawn, he chooses to spare its life. However, as the boy turns to leave, the stag notices him and charges, causing them both to tumble into a nearby cave. Later, the boy awakens in the darkness, realizing that not only is he trapped, but he has also unintentionally caused the stag's death. Overwhelmed by fear, remorse, and sadness, he grapples with the weight of his actions. Yet, a glimmer of hope emerges as the spirit of the stag materializes before him. Guided by this benevolent presence, the boy navigates his way out of the cave and stumbles upon the now orphaned fawn, evoking a deep sense of responsibility and the need for redemption. In this poignant tale, themes of compassion and forgiveness intertwine with the vibrant tapestry of Wixárika culture. The boy's transformative journey leads him to embrace his duty and care for the fawn, ultimately finding solace and a renewed sense of purpose.
